Rambling in one’s birthday suit.

Maybe Geoff and I should be going off to Switzerland for our next walking holiday.

I found this story in the Times today and it did make me smile…as you know I walk with many of the local Rambling groups and I could never imagine them doing this……

"When the first nude walkers came over the border the tranquil, neutrality-loving Swiss tried to pretend it wasn’t happening. It was only when it became clear that the invaders had a plan of conquest — even if they had no clothes — that the Alpenhorns sounded the alarm. image

Now the Swiss authorities are trying to fend off hordes of German ramblers dressed in nothing more than a rucksack and walking boots. The influx appears to have been started after a German mountaineering website declared the Swiss wilderness a “paradise for naked ramblers”.

We have been receiving many complaints,” Markus Dörig, a spokesman for the government of the Appenzell Innerrhoden canton, told The Times. “The local people are upset and we in the government share their concern. How would one feel if one was to go walking in nature and suddenly came across a group of naked people?”

But the authorities soon found that they were powerless. When police in the eastern Appenzeller region, which appears to be worst hit by the new craze, arrested a group of German nudists they had to apologise and let them go as there was no law against rambling in one’s birthday suit."

The whole story can be seen here.

Back On Line…..

Every now and  again I have a few problems with my Netgear router.

A call to AOL usually gets it sorted in no time at all,and that is the main reason I stay imagewith AOL.

If you follow me on twitter you will see that today I had major problems… so I made my usual call to AOL and thought it would be soon sorted.

How wrong can you be…

All was going fine until they suddenly decided that the account was not in my name but my late husbands name.. they then insisted on talking to him and would not deal with me at all.

My call was then transferred to customer service where I was politely told that nothing would be done until the account was in my name and I had to send David’s death certificate to prove he was dead.

I explained that at least 3 years ago I had the account changed over to my name and I have paid the bill ever since, but they would not listen to me, and they finally hung up on me when I insisted on speaking to someone higher.

People that know me will also know that I am a happy smiley kind of girl but for some reason this phone call upset me a great deal and has left me with sore eyes from crying. ๐Ÿ™

Now you might wonder how I managed to get back onto the Internet, well I called AOL back and this time the guy from India was not so switched on… he asked for the password , which of course I know but he didn’t realise I was a female and not a male called David.

So all is well for now BUT I wonder if its time to get my mac code and move on.. and if it is how on earth will I get this code if they have not updated their system all those yeas ago when I took the account over.

Feeling very foolish now for letting the Guy from AOL upset me so much  ๐Ÿ™

Edward Bliss’s Mausoleum..

On Sunday I woke to the sound of pouring rain but was not put off going on my walk.

So off I went to Brandon Country Park to meet up with the Newmarket Ramblers.painting 013

Eight hikers turned out for this 14 mile, figure of 8 walk… Iร‚ย  knew all the walkers so there was much chatter as we walked.

The girls led the way and one of the boys (he knows who he is ) struggled to keep up with us at times.

I expect his legs ached on Monday morning ๐Ÿ™‚

We hardly noticed the rain as the trees in the forest sheltered us well.

Many Thanks to Tess for leading the walk with the help of Millie the dog, and we wont mention missing a turning :-)ร‚ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

A shorter drive this week , taking aprox 35 min’s and a round trip of just 54 miles.

My Longest Journey…

On June 13th 2009 I will make the longest Journey of my life.

I will fly from Heathrow to Lima in Peru.

That’s a 14hour flight all on my own and I have never even been to Heathrow Aiimagerport.

The reason for this trip Is to meet up with Geoff and spend two weeks in Peru which will include walking the Inca Trail.

Once I have met up with Geoff in Lima we will make our way to Cuzco to meet up with Emily, who is doing some voluntary work there from April 1st.

Now you will be wondering where Geoff is off too.

Well on April 7th he is off on a three month trip which will include going to Costa Rica, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands before he finally meets me in Lima.

My emotions about this trip are all over the place, excited, scared , amazed, shocked, and also sad, sad at the thought of Geoff being away for 3 whole months.

Most of all I am very excited as I know this will be the most amazing trip for both of us.

Once he returns from Les Gets we have 2 months to get the trip planned , which will be a very exciting time.
