Burning some calories….

My readers that have been following me for a while will know how I struggle with my3068866242_790c8d62b7 skiing.

I have to really psyche myself up and its a real case of facing my fears..

This week-end trip to Les Gets was not for skiing but just relaxing and doing some snow shoe walking.

We woke to lovely snow this morning so I encouraged Geoff to go out on his snowboard for asnow shoe walking 009 few local runs,as the chair lift was open.

Later in the day we got some snow shoes and had a walk up the mountain, it was beautiful and so peaceful.

It was also hard work and we certainly burn some calories.

Now we have had a practice run we hope to go up even higher tomorrow weather permitting.

Nice to be missed……

Jane who works opposite shifts to me on the fish counter, had to do my early shift at work today.

This is what she wrote on my facebook this evening…..

"yes i did look after u fish.i woz so busy i thought it woz xmas eve..everyone woz asking where u woz and i said she aint doing much, she only gone ski ing thats all,but i aint jeoulous or nothing i would rather come in ere at 7 abloody clock and look at dead fish any day.ave a ski 4 me and mind u bum on that fire.lol.ive seen wot them coals can do.xxxxx"

Feels nice to be missed 🙂

A routine that works….

I have been struggling these last few months with my exercise routine.

It all started when the cost of petrol / diesel went sky high and with my sons getting their jobs.

I resented having to go out and drive a round trip of aprox 16 miles just to go to the gym on my own.image

As I am away from home at week-ends I think its only fair my sons come first when I am here with them.

I have to collect one son from work twice during the week, and sometimes if he goes out I have to be the taxi driver.

So to be truthful the last thing I want to do is any more driving.

For a while I tried going to the gym in Downham Market straight from work but it just did not suit me.

Then a twitter friend suggested I tried running at night in the dark.image

At first I thought she must be mad.. but the idea grew on me.

I live in a village where there is a shortage of street lights but also not much traffic.

The first couple of runs felt strange, I almost ran into a parked car, I never realized how dark it really is.

I now carry a torch with me and know when I need to use it.

This routine is really working for me and I have been out three times this week.

Its amazing what you can do with a little bit of encouragement and a positive attitude.

The Pencil Test

ANN LANDERS’ PENCIL TESTimage
To determine whether you need to wear a bra, place a pencil under you breast. If the pencil falls to the floor, you don’t need to wear a bra; if it stays, you need one.

Taken from Rules of Thumb.org

Now all my lady readers should try this test and post their findings in the comments…

I obviously have one boob bigger than the other 🙂

Another Quick and Easy Recipe…

This is quick and easy but very tasty.

As usual its low fat and a slimming world recipe.

One packet of tomato and herb pasta an sauce ( Bachelors / Aldi / Iceland )cake card and trout

One tub of cottage cheese.

Three eggs.

Any mix of vegetable.

Cook the pasta as instructions on packet.

Stir in cottage cheese.

Then mix in eggs and vegetables, I usually use peppers and mushrooms which I have softened in microwave.

Pour mixture into a dish, sprinkle with cheese and bake in oven for 30 min’s.

serve with a mixed salad or more vegetables of your choice.

Left overs are great, served cold for next days lunch too.

A visit to Isham….

We went to visit my Mum and Dad at the week-end.

Living out in the countryside they always have a good supply of Pheasant, Partridge  and Trout.

I came home with a lovely Trout that had been caught in a local river.

As you know I sell fish at Tesco, all my fish is nice and fresh everyday, but the farmed trout I sell do not compare to the lovely taste of a River Trout.

Amazingly it also seems that my Dad is getting closer and closer to joining us all on the Internet, I have been trying to talk him into it for years. 🙂

At Last….

I so wanted to go to the cinema to see Mamma Mia, but could never be bothered to drive into Kings Lynn to actually see it.

There are lots of things I would like to do but its always that drive into Kings Lynn that puts me off.

So today I was lucky enough to pick up a DVD copy from Tesco for £7.99 and that’s even cheaper than at play.com

Now I just have to find the time to watch it… and I don’t think it will be this week 🙁

Some R & R before Christmas…

This time next week we shall be at Geoff’s apartment in the French Alps.

A four day long week-end to look forward too.

It wont be all play time though as the reason for the visit is to get the apartment ready for his winter bookings.

This is the scene there today taken from the web cam… the snow has arrived as you can see.

Geoff will spend the whole of January out in Les Gets snowboarding, me and the boys are lucky enough to be joining him for a week too.

Its a great way to start the new Year.
