Something for Nothing…

Not often today that you get some thing for nothing.

I thought I would see if I could get some free tickets for the Out door show  at the NEC in Birmingham.

I left posts on both the walking Forums I use just to see what I could come up with.

Was told on one that it was like asking for free Tickets for the FA cup final. So I thought that was the end of that.

Then today I had an e-mail giving me a tip to check here.

So I made a phone call and ticket will be on its way tomorrow.

Will have to make sure I go and say hello to the RA  and Country Walking  people….

Fleam Dyke and The Roman Road

Sunday was our Walking day and I was hoping to get a 20 miler.

We left Cambridge and walked out towards Fulbourne where we picked up the Fleam Dyke and walked the 5km along the dry chalklands to Balsham.

At Balsham we picked up the Roman Road which took us back into Cambridge.

The Roman Road is a 10 mile historic route full of wild life and flowers.Infact we bumped into Julia and her working party who were clearing and raking the verges to make sure the wild flowers did not become over grown by the weeds and trees.

They are members of the Friends of the Roman road and Fleam  Dyke ,who  help the Green belt project.

Information from my pedometer was….  lost  :-(   but I know it was over 21 miles

Varsity Lacrosse Match

On Saturday we joined Philip the Entrepreneur to watch the Cambridge V Oxford    Lacrosse tournament, on Parkers Piece.

There were many games, men’s, women’s and mixed, all very enjoyable to watch.

Philips newest venture is Equity Fingerprint which can be seen on you tube.

Many Thanks for the delicious lunch, and invite to the champagne party in May….. I may have a dress by then 🙂

Dance Music with a Difference…

If you ever find yourself in Cambridge on the first Friday of the month, be sure to drop into the Cellar Bar 8, just behind the Grafton centre.

For one night each month this venue is transformed into a small corner of Africa, as the band Afro Tema take over for the evening.

Afro Tema’s music ranges from modern west African funk to languid Reggae, and is definitely infectious.

So if you want to experience something different it’s well worth a detour from your usual haunts.

10,000…what a Number…

I see late last night my counter on my blog reached 10,000.

It made me feel real pleased with myself…..as I have only been blogging since Christmas day.

Its caused a few fights in my house, as I share my PC with my son, but blogging has brought me nothing but pleasure.

Not only do I enjoy writing my blog but I love reading other blogs too,I have learnt so much in the past 2 months !

I love reading all your comments and I have had some lovely e-mails full of words of encouragement.

So Thanks to Geoff for making me believe I could do it, and Thanks to everyone else who takes the time to read it and leave comments.

Now I just have to make sure I can keep it up, mind you I am addicted now so should be no problem.
