A Circular walk…
Wednesday we did a circular walk from Le Praz de lys.
If you looked up from the bottom you could just about see the cross on the summit.
It was a long uphill climb to the top in boiling hot sunshine.
Once you reached the top there was 2 ways to come down.
One way included some Vea Ferrata , I tried to do it but found it too scary so missed out on the ridge walk and came down the easier way.
Another great walk with fantastic views.
Route….
Downhill Mountain Biking…
Today was the Mountain biking day..
After collecting our bikes we set off up the mountain on the chair lift to Les Chavannes.
We then cycled to Lac de Joux plane, a nice downhill ride on a road, with great views of Mont Blanc..
After having coffee we cycled back up to the Les Chavannes.
We then took what was sign posted as a very easy downhill ride suitable for families.
All I can say is that if that was easy I would not like to try hard .
It was very scary at times because not only was it fast but very narrow and winding too.
After I had recovered we decided to try a cross country route by the river towards Morzine.
Once there we got the De Pleney chair lift up the mountain.
Then just a short downhill section before joining the road and a great fast run all the way back into Les Gets..
Water Babies
Yesterday we took the car to lac Montriond on yet another very hot day.
We decided before we went for a swim we should go for a walk.
So we took the high level route up to the l’cascade d’ardent.
When we got there we spent some time enjoying the water which i can tell you was very very cold but welcome after a hot sweaty up hill walk.
Then it was back down to the Lac where we enjoyed a swim in the much warmer water.
I love the reflections in the photo below…..

The circuit of Mont Chery
Today we set off in brilliant sunshine.
We walked up and up right to the summit of Mont Chery, as usual I sweated like a pig, amazingly we passed a man wearing a big heavy jumper and he did not have a bead of sweat on him .
We then walked to Col de l’Encrenaz where we had lunch in the lovely sunshine, before carrying on to Mont Caly.
At Mont Caly we had Ice cream before returning back to les gets, via a small stream where we had a quick skinny dip 🙂
Only 12km walked but a height gain of 4000 feet , a very different walk to a Norfolk walk 🙂
Not to disappoint……..
Relaxing….
Finally arrived in Les Gets about 11pm after a delayed flight.![]()
So today has been a relaxing day.
We went up Mount Chery on the chair lift with the intension of walking back down, but by the time we had arrived at the top it had clouded over and we had a downpour of rain with thunder and lightening.
So we retired to the Belvedere for lunch and refreshments.
After 2
bottles of wine and a delicious lunch it was still raining but lucky for us they started the chair lift up to take us back down.
The weather is now clearing and I am hoping to get up to the lake soon for a swim because as you know I don’t do relaxing for very long 🙂
We have talked about trying some mountain biking while we are here, but only on the easy paths … it sounds like fun to me !!
Mountains here I come :-)
Just about packed now after having a mega stress about it earlier in the day 🙁
As tomorrow after work I am straight off to Cambridge ,quick shower and change then down to Luton Airport for the 6pm flight to Geneva.
Then its on to Geoff’s apartment in Les Gets. for a whole 10 days.
My walking poles are packed ready for some mountain walking, no long distance this time,Just lots of high walks, which will make a change from the flat lands of Norfolk.
I will be taking my laptop, so will post some photos and let you know what I am up too so DO keep reading……..
The Urban Dictionary
After reading Geoff’s post how could I resist…..
