Country life…

Usually  at this time of year I start going out on my bike in the evenings… I alternate between running and riding  🙂

Since Andrew got his job though he’s been using my bike ..so I have been bike lesbikes 🙁

This week I had the offer of a ride out to Sandringham and I hate to turn that kind of offer down.

Lucky for me my son managed to get a lift to work that day.

So on Wednesday in brilliant warm sunshine I met up with Helen alias @cloudgazer and onethoughtfulwoman.

It was a 3 mile bike ride to Helen’s house and another 5 mile to Sandringham, we called into see @athinkingman / A Thinking man on the way too.

We took some great photos had a walk and tea and scones before returning home.

A perfect countryside day.

As Anne has pointed out to me I really do have the best of both worlds with my city and country life.

Tomorrow its a wedding in the city 🙂

More photos can be seen here  and I want my bike back now 🙁

City life…

Thanks to Geoff I still have some where to stay in Cambridge while he is away.

So this weekend I took myself off to the city. great offley 003

It always amazes me how at “ home “ I feel in Cambridge, having spent all my life living in the countryside its not something I would have expected.

I saw more people  and did more things over the weekend than what I would do here in 2 weeks 🙁

Apart from seeing friends and having fun I also went out walking with our favourite walking group the Cambridge Rambling club.

I have had this walk highlighted on my calendar for a while, as it was the Bluebell walk.

The walk was In birdsGreat Offley and the Bluebells were magnificent.

Jill led 12 of us on a wonderful  17 mile walk, in glorious sunshine.

It has to be one of the best walks I have been on and its a shame Geoff missed it 🙁

During the walk we saw 4 red kites, they were magnificent to watch, soaring through the sky.

Then on the Monday I got a swim and steam at Greens before visiting a friend in Ely on my way home.

All photos can be seen here…

The Question is….

Do I get an Aqua Pure Traveller  water filter to take to Peru with me.

Not quite sure how bad the water is but I do not want to risk getting an upset tummy.

So far Geoff has escaped an upset tummy but Emily who is actually in Peru has had quite a nasty tummy upset.

I am only there for 2 weeks so the last thing I want is to waste days being ill 🙁

Tears….

A few tears were shed at my house this evening.

Andrew was gathering his paperwork together for his test tomorrow when he noticed….. he had got his test date wrong and it was actually last week 🙁

A very costly mistake as he has now had to re-book and pay for another test.

We have re-booked it for 12th May but it looks like we shall have to change it… his driving instructor wont be available that day as its his birthday.image

It was very upsetting to see my son so upset and as a mum I of course blamed myself for not checking on the date myself.

In the end I reasoned with him and told him at the end of the day it was a mistake.. everyone makes mistakes just learn from it and don’t make the same mistake twice.

I am not sure he feels any better about himself at the moment but he will in time.

I have dealt with it by thinking maybe it was fate…  maybe for some reason, he was not meant to take his test just yet.!!

Third Time Lucky.

On Saturday  my son takes his driving test for the Third time.

After passing his theory test first time way back in Nov 2007  he failed tests in May 2008 and then July 2008.

By this time he was unemployed so abandoned the driving lessons.

Then he got his job in Aug 2008 at the Construction College in Bircham Newton.image

It took a while but after some encouragement he restarted his driving lessons.

Now he has a big incentive to pass, as work have offered him a full time job starting in July on condition that he’s passed his test.

Lets hope his days of biking a 25 mile round trip to work and back are numbered.

The Red Clio still sits outside for him too, he has taken it slow and easy this time so lets keep our fingers crossed for him .

It will change all our lives if he can drive that’s for sure.

Cherry Blossom…
