Back to normal

After a very hectic week , helping Geoff move and settle into his new house.

We even managed a house warming party on Saturday.

All his new neighbours came which was wonderful and a great way to get to know them all.

It was good to be able to help Geoff move and I just know that he is going to be very very happy in his new house  🙂

I should be back to my normal routine this week.

It started today with my usual swim and yoga class 🙂

Tomorrow I shall try to catch up with all my blog reading.

An unusual weekend

No walking or swimming this weekend.

We had more important jobs like clearing Glisson Road.

Many trips were made to the tip and Charity shops.

Then the auction men came and took most of the antiques away.

Leaving the house feeling very empty.

The weekend was not all work though as Geoff’s next door neighbors had us round for a farewell dinner, which was most enjoyable.

Not many people have the same neighbors for 26 years 🙂

Sunday night we had friends round for dinner and used the sauna for the last time, it shall be greatly missed 🙁

I have only known the house for around 3 years but it holds many happy and special memories for me, it also feels like home.

So its nice that I shall be back in Cambridge on Thursday to help with the big move !!

Not quite a wasted day

Due to Geoff’s immanent House move we were unable to have a walking Wednesday.

Much to  my disappointment, due to a mid-day appointment that could not re-scheduled,
I was also unable to go to Cambridge today.

So I wasted most of the day doing nothing 🙁

But I did make another 10 jars of marmalade and a fish pie 🙂

So not a totally wasted day !

A fun packed Valentines

A great start to Valentines day.

Doing what we love best ( well almost best 🙂 )

A 15 mile walk from Royston, with the Cambridge rambling club.

Jill led us on a very undulating route.

Good to see my heart rate rise as we went up hill then fall as soon as we reached the top 🙂

Later in the evening Geoff took me out for a lovely Valentines Meal followed by a special showing of Breakfast at Tiffanys shown at the Arts cinema.

Which incidentally was released the year I was born 🙂

All in all a very packed and enjoyable day and Yes I did find time to give Geoff a nice relaxing Indian Head massage too.

My new gadget

My new toy arrived today.

I set it up quickly and went for a short run round the Village.

Below is all the information it gathered as I was running.

I like the way it tells you how many calories burnt and that it does your heart rate too.

As well as the usual miles ran, time, avg speed and max speed.

You can set it up for all kinds of training, it may just help me get my Race for life Goal.

I am sure I will get hours of fun from it 🙂

A great achievement

I had the most wonderful day today.

My friend Helen aka @cloudgazer has entered the GEAR run in Kings Lynn on 2nd May 2010.

She wont mind me saying this , but she has been struggling with her training.

Working long hard hours means she finds little time to train.

Her best run to date was 4 miles in just under an hour, a good achievement in itself.

I suggested that she might like to join me today on a 6 mile training run.

A) to see how far she could run

B) to show her what a 6 mile run felt like.

So this morning with a light covering of snow on the ground we met at 10am and started our little test.

We had perfect running conditions, bright sunshine with just a little breeze.

The first mile is always the hardest but I knew by mile 3 that she would make the whole 6 miles.

So with some encouragement up the hills I tried to pull her along, with the promise of a downhill stretch.

The end result was 6.7 miles ran in 1 hour 19 mins with no stopping.

I am so proud of her 🙂 🙂

The reward was a drop of my home made Raspberry vodka followed by Assam tea and hot cross buns.

I hope we shall do this run together a good few times before her big day 🙂

How a GPS should work

Today I went for a run in Cambridge.

I took Geoff’s GPS with me.

This is what you can do if you have a good GPS

All information uploaded straight from GPS to mac using Ascent

What a great way to record all the information you want.

3.6 miles ran, in 40.01 mins, avg moving speed 5.4mph , pace 11.11 min/miles

We then went for a swim at Greens as they have an open weekend this weekend 🙂

So plenty of exercise today 🙂
