Cartoons For Your Blog

Found a cool new site over at Finding Life hard.

Its called We Blog Cartoons by Dave walker, and you can freely re-use them on your blog.

Here are two I liked, the first reminds me of Geoff’s desk

The second reminds me of my son’s laundry box when I have been away for a few days…..

Hope you have some fun reading it…

A Hard Task…………

With my flight to Corsica booked, ready for walking the GR20 in June.

I have been given the task of learning some French.

Now I was useless at french when at school many years ago, and some times have trouble with English so its going to be hard work for me.

I have been given an excellent learning  C/D  , which must be easier than a book, as you get to hear how the words are pronounced.

But some how I still think this is going to be a hard task for me……

Varsity Lacrosse Match

On Saturday we joined Philip the Entrepreneur to watch the Cambridge V Oxford    Lacrosse tournament, on Parkers Piece.

There were many games, men’s, women’s and mixed, all very enjoyable to watch.

Philips newest venture is Equity Fingerprint which can be seen on you tube.

Many Thanks for the delicious lunch, and invite to the champagne party in May….. I may have a dress by then 🙂

Dance Music with a Difference…

If you ever find yourself in Cambridge on the first Friday of the month, be sure to drop into the Cellar Bar 8, just behind the Grafton centre.

For one night each month this venue is transformed into a small corner of Africa, as the band Afro Tema take over for the evening.

Afro Tema’s music ranges from modern west African funk to languid Reggae, and is definitely infectious.

So if you want to experience something different it’s well worth a detour from your usual haunts.

10,000…what a Number…

I see late last night my counter on my blog reached 10,000.

It made me feel real pleased with myself…..as I have only been blogging since Christmas day.

Its caused a few fights in my house, as I share my PC with my son, but blogging has brought me nothing but pleasure.

Not only do I enjoy writing my blog but I love reading other blogs too,I have learnt so much in the past 2 months !

I love reading all your comments and I have had some lovely e-mails full of words of encouragement.

So Thanks to Geoff for making me believe I could do it, and Thanks to everyone else who takes the time to read it and leave comments.

Now I just have to make sure I can keep it up, mind you I am addicted now so should be no problem.

A New Page

I have decided to add a new page to my blog, one for all my favorite Recipes.

Don’t be afraid, they wont make you all fat, because some are from my Slimming world cook books , not that you would know by the taste.

So do take a look and try some of the Recipes , be good if you could leave a Recipe or two for me aswell.

Smack dab in the middle

A Muffin Recipe….For Foxy

Chocolate muffins , irresistible and with less sugar and fat than standard chocolate cake.

9oz self raising flour

half teasp of bicarbonate of soda

half teasp of salt

4 tablsp unsweetened cocoa power

5oz white granulated sugar

1 egg

8fl oz milk

3 fl oz corn oil

1 teasp vanilla essence.

First prepare muffin tins and preheat oven to 190/200 C

In a large bowl sift together flour, bicarb, salt and coca powder. stir in the sugar.

In another bowl, beat the egg ,with a fork, stir in the milk, oil and vanilla essence.

Pour all wet ingredients into dry, and stir until combined, no dry flour should be visible.

Fill muffin cases 3/4 full and sprinkle tops with chocolate drops or nuts.Bake for 20-25 min’s.

( I put the chocolate drops or nuts into the muffin mixture rather on top )

Now enjoy !!!

Fishy Tales

I see that a 33ft long and 990lb Giant Squid has been caught in the Antarctic waters.

I would most likely have found that easier to sell , instead of the 11 boxes of Herring Milts I had try and sell today, for those that don’t know herring Milts, also known as soft roe, are in fact the male reproductive glands and their contents….. yes seminal fluid.

Why any one would want to eat them i do not know.I confess to buying them a few times, cooking them but have never been able to eat any, they smell and look disgusting and the texture is indescribable.

Best to stick to some of the other nice fish I sell , like Trout, Salmon, Monkfish and my favourite Seabass. I wonder if I could tempt the lobster who blogs?
