The End…..

Many thanks to everyone that voted for me especially all my walking pals from the Forums….

Many thanks to Sicily Scene too who made it so much fun… I peaked too early yesterday and she deservingly won.

For me the best thing about these Blogpower Awards, were getting to visit blogs I would not usually visit… my reading list has grown quite a lot.

Now I must go and concentrate on climbing real mountains in Corsica.

Plans so far…..

Only a few days now till Geoff and I go off to Corsica, where we hope to walk down the spine of Corsica , a walk known as the GR20. 1244_gr20-map

We are walking it north to south,doing the hardest days walking in the first half.

We fly out of Stansted to Nice very early on Saturday morning,Going to spend the day in Nice before catching the high speed ferry over to Calvi at 17.45. Its a three hour trip so should get there around 20.45.

We are booked into the hotel Monte Grosso in Calenzana for the Saturday night, a good nights sleep before starting the walk on the sunday.

We have also booked into the hotel Le Chalet,in Haut Asco on the 19th, our third walking day and the night before the Cirque de la solitude.The day that most walkers dread !!!

The idea is to keep my ruc-sac as light as possible…no luxuries on this trip.

Down by the river……

OLIVES AND RIVER 002Wonderful hot sunny day here in Cambridge yesterday. so we spent the morning at the Country Fair held on Parkers Piece.

Got some wonderful stuffed olives, the display looked fabulous,full of color and different tastes.

We then made up a picnic of olives,bread ,strawberries and wine.

Took ourselves off to the Riverside club where we spent the afternoon sunbathing and swimming in the river once again  OLIVES AND RIVER 009

 

My skin is getting used to the sun now so I should be ready for the Corsican heat, also getting used to the cold river so should be ready for swimming in the lakes as well.

Had two walking free week-ends so I am now really ready to get out walking..two whole weeks of walking sounds just fabulous and I can hardly wait for next week-end to start.
