Skis for Blondes

Thierry always gives me nice girlie skis.

Today he had sorted me out one pink ski and one purple ski, to match my jacket so I thought.

But I was wrong, he told me they are especially for Blondes, Pink for left …purple for right.

Maybe he wont get the litre bottle of Jameson whiskey I bought over for him πŸ™‚

Excited…..

You wont miss me on the slopes at Les Gets.

Just hope I can remember how to ski now I look like a skier.

flight leaves Stansted at midday tomorrow.

Keep a look out for photos

Success and failure

Thanks to a recipe I was given by my friend Caity .

This years Christmas Nut Roast was a huge success and even though I say so myself the best I have ever tasted.

It had the most perfect texture with just the right amount of nuts seeds and mushrooms.

My Homemade Cranberry sauce was ok but nothing special and a bit tart for my liking, so I will be trying another recipe this year πŸ™‚

The Turkey and Trimmings was the best I have ever cooked and well enjoyed by everyone.

The Failure was Homemade Ginger fudge.

I so wanted to make this as a surprise for Geoff but after 3 attempts and badly burning a saucepan, I gave up trying. πŸ™

I have a sugar thermometer so I expected it to be easy but I think I was not patient enough.

First run of 2010

Even though the roads and pavements are still very icy and slippery in my village I just had to go for a run today.

Matthew came with me, because he thought it might be fun πŸ™‚

After a light covering of snow , the path we took across the fields was beautiful, it was like running on cotton wool.

Unfortunately we had to shorten the run as the last stretch on the road was far too icy

So the GPS said 1.78 miles …. moving average 5.3 mph and moving time 20.06 lots of room for improvement but at least its a start.

( wont be downloading my GPS tracks as I dont have the patience to sit and try over and over again , just for it not to work )

First walk of 2010

Today was our first walk in 2010, Flat walks, Hilly walks,Mountain walks, Coastal walks, hopefully we shall cover them all in 2010 πŸ™‚

Today was 14 miles from Orwell, with our favorite little group.

We had perfect weather conditions, fresh and frosty with pure blue skies and lots of sunshine too.

Lunch break was at Wimpole before returning back to Orwell.

My etrex Gps tracked the walk well, once I get the lead I just need to work out what to do with it next.

As its now the New Year I shall start filling in my Walkers notebook, which was a birthday gift from my friend Helen.

Geoff’s account of the walk can be found here along with his photos.

Happy New Year

After seeing the New Year in with friends down in London.

We drove back to Cambridge so we could do our New Years day swim in the Cam.

The water was about 2 deg but that did not stop at least 20 people turning up for a swim.

We then warmed ourselves round the fire with hot mulled wine and some of my Raspberry Gin.

A great start to 2010.

The Big surpise

Some people don’t like surprises but I have to admit that I do like them.

Although the surprise I had on Christmas day did almost give me a heart attack .

I had many fantastic gifts and felt emotional anyway, as I am always touched by how thoughtful and kind people can be.

Then I was given an unexpected gift and was told this was my real gift.

I could not have even began to imagine what it was and as I opened it I was squealing and crying in amazement, even writing this is bringing tears to my eyes.

My gift ….. a 13 inch Mac book πŸ™‚

I am home now and it connected to the internet instantly

Skype is so sharp and clear

Daily mugshot works

It has a whole 7 hour battery life

Basically it just works and I know everyone will sigh with relieve when they hear BBC IPlayer streams perfect.

Thank you is not enough but I hope Geoff knows how very grateful I am for this wonderful gift.

He even picked the perfect purple case for it πŸ™‚
