Window Box

I have finally planted up my window box and look forward to seeing the flowers from my kitchen window 🙂

The rest of my garden is going to take much longer to do !

Although I have a collection of plants in pots thanks to Geoff’s sister 🙂

Can you guess what they are ??

Community Spirit

I have only been living here a few weeks but all ready I am beginning to find a few things out about this Estate.

Firstly they have there own web site  where you can find out about anything that is happening on the Estate, and of course I have all ready signed up 🙂

Secondly the estate has its own little running group called the Fairstead falcons , this could be a great way for me to make some new friends 🙂

So all is looking good 🙂

Lifeline 4 Chernobyl

One of the good things about moving house is that it gives you the opportunity for a really good clear out.

Not that I need an excuse to have a clear out, so even I was amazed at the amount of things we had out grown over the past 5 years

It was suggested that I do a car boot sale but to be honest I like to donate my unwanted things to charity.

I may not have spare cash to give to my favored charity’s but by donating my unwanted things it helps them raise the money they need.

I am waiting on the arrival of my new Red chaise end Sofa and Plain Red chair ( and no I never paid that price in fact its an early 50th birthday gift ) so I needed a home for my present settee and chairs.

Recently I met a couple who have set up a fantastic charity called Lifeline 4 Chernobyl the work they do is amazing 🙂

So today my Settee and chairs were collected and will be in there next auction.

If you live in the Kings Lynn / Downham market area please give this charity a thought, if you have unwanted items at home that may be suitable to auction.

The collapsible Vase

Our Saturday did not turn out as expected, luckily it fell apart before we made a 75 mile drive.

It could also have been much worse as I had really wanted to take part in this event but thankfully I had decided I could not afford too.

So instead we went to the Cambridge Town and Country fair

There was many interesting stalls but one really took my eye, it was selling The handy re-usable collapsible PVC vase.

You simple fill it with hot water to shape -empty-then fill with cold water and arrange your flowers.

Simple reverse the process to store away flat

A new routine

20110611-101903.jpg

Most weekends we spend some time with Geoff’s grandchildren, which I really enjoy.

As Isla loves to bake we have a lovely routine of baking on a Saturday.

Today we made enough mini chocolate muffins for Isla’s lunch boxes and some for the walk Geoff is leading for the Cambridge rambling club tomorrow.

I started off with 42 muffins but only seem to have 22 left so I hope its not a huge turn out for tomorrows walk 🙂

Simple things !

Just Loving my new house in fact it feels like home already and its the simple things that make all the difference…

Like having a mobile signal in the house , a decent flush on the toilet and no scale build up in the kettle.

Its also a real novelty having instant hot water when ever I turn on the tap.

Its good to be connected to the internet again although the connection is very very slow and I have been unable to get BT vision to work yet, but I really do hope it will settle down.

Surely living in town I will get a better connection than when living in a village

If you want to visit me just follow the sound of the wind chimes, which I am sure can be heard all over Lynn

Home Sweet Home

Well we have been in our new house just 10 days, everything is unpacked and most things have found a home.

All the pictures are up and my curtains are a perfect fit.

The TV aerial has been fitted, all we are waiting for now is a phone line and internet connection.

BT insisted there was no phone line to my house so wanted £100 for a line to be installed and that came with a 3 week wait 🙁

They did offer me a deal, by taking BT Vision TV, my line would then be installed for free.

I reluctantly agreed to this to save myself £100 but it commits me to a new 18 month contract

Its now become quite clear to me that the previous owner did have a BT line as I keep receiving mail form BT addressed to him.

So I am very unhappy with BT at the moment 🙁

On a brighter note we love the house and I just know we are going to be very very happy here.

Geoff has worked so hard helping us settle in and we have so appreciated all his help 🙂
