60 miles….

60 miles is what I walked in four days , it all went well , glad to say I am fitter than I expected , no aches or pains…..

BUT

what let me down was my feet, never had problems before but his time I got blisters, maybe because my boots were not tied tight enough for the hills… who knows, but I will certainly have to review my foot wear….

I was very upset about getting sore feet but like Geoff says better to have the problem now, when I have time to sort it.

Home now for a few days… time to catch up with my Blogs …give Geoff a rest :-)… and feed my boys up again.

Will post walk routes tomorrow….

Memories….

All this talk about hills, got me looking at my photo’s, some I have not looked at for years…  came across some which had been taken when I went up Tryfan…..  made it on a 3rd attempt after being beaten by bad weather the first 2 times.

I was not brave enough to jump Adam and Eve, it was very very windy and they are very very high…..and that’s my excuse!!

When I work out how to use my scanner I will add some more Photo’s  as I have also done Moel Siabod, Moel Hebog, Cnicht, and Snowdon many times.

A Blogger’s Walk….

Yesterday Geoff and I met up with Ellee for a walk.

It was a beautiful day, and a wonderful walk.

We parked along the New market road and walked the three miles to Anglesey Abbey , this three miles was the most beautiful walk along the river and through the woods.

We met Ellee, at Anglesey Abbey car park.

Then walked to Lode, Waterbeach and through Stow Cum Quy Fen , which took us back to Anglesey Abbey  a total of 12 miles.

We then left Ellee at the car park and sprinted back to the car.

The walk was one of the nicest river walks I have done for a while, and of course the company was Brill.

Total miles walked 18

Fleam Dyke and The Roman Road

Sunday was our Walking day and I was hoping to get a 20 miler.

We left Cambridge and walked out towards Fulbourne where we picked up the Fleam Dyke and walked the 5km along the dry chalklands to Balsham.

At Balsham we picked up the Roman Road which took us back into Cambridge.

The Roman Road is a 10 mile historic route full of wild life and flowers.Infact we bumped into Julia and her working party who were clearing and raking the verges to make sure the wild flowers did not become over grown by the weeds and trees.

They are members of the Friends of the Roman road and Fleam  Dyke ,who  help the Green belt project.

Information from my pedometer was….  lost  :-(   but I know it was over 21 miles

Today’s Walk-about

Woke up to pouring rain today but I am not the kind of girl to be put off by a bit of rain, not where a walk is concerned anyway.

Today the plan was to walk from Narborough to Cockleycley visit the pub for refreshments then walk back again.

By the time we set off the rain had stopped, but it was still an extremely muddy walk, especially round the pig farm.

Think we may have had too many refreshments at the pub because even with a Compass, Map and GPS we managed to almost get lost on the way back :-)  I think we were too busy watching the pigs. 🙂

The Twitters

Today I found myself at Brandon Country Park for another girlie walk.

I am beginning to think we should specialize in Girl only walks and call ourselves The Twitters as alot of Twittering goes on

There was 5 on today’s walk, a new girlie called Susan joined us and she had driven all the way from Kent, just so she could try one of my Muffins.

We almost had a non start as the first 6 mile route we planned to follow was closed due to a Mountain Bike race but we decided to take our chance with the bikes and just go for it anyway.

After just a few hairy moments with the bikes and walking through the bracken to keep out there way , we found ourselves at The High Lodge centre where we had a welcome cup of tea.

We then followed the Green bike route which eventually took us back to Brandon Country Park.

A group of very tired looking lads stopped and asked us the quickest way back to High Lodge, it wasn’t till afterwards that we realized we had sent them the long way back. Well after a while all the trees look the same.

Sunday at the Coast

Woke up to a glorious sunny day so decided to go up to the coast.

We decided to go to snettisham and see how far along we could walk towards Kings Lynn.

When we walked through the Caravan site we could see what damage had been done by the strong winds we had a few weeks ago. A few caravans completely destroyed.

We got through the Nature Reserve and started walking along the sea defense wall ,all was going well. We then cut inland to head towards wolferton.

While walking across to Wolferton we polightly got told we were not  on a permissive path. We asked who the land belonged too and it was the Sandringham Estate.

We then went through the wolferton estate , round Dersingham Bog, down to the dismantled railway and cut back along the tracks to the sea defense wall.

The information from my pedometer was…..

Sally’s Afternoon Walk

I don’t often get to walk on a Saturday as well as a Sunday, but this week-end I had the opportunity.

I was put in charge of planning the route and leading the way.

A big risk for Geoff as I have been known to get lost, but he bought his GPS along just in case I needed help.

Glad to say I needed no help and as you can see from the map we did a nice circular walk , keeping mainly off road.

I forgot to take my camera, which was a shame as we walked by tons of pigs , with pens full of squealing piglets.

The information from my pedometer was…..
