The perfect pair..

When I come to Les Gets I always hire my ski’s from Thierry over at Nevada Sports.

I always tell him I want nice slow ski’s and he always picks out the perfect pair for me…

Last year my ski’s were known as Big and Easy which did make me giggle.

This year my ski’s are very girlie and once again just perfect for me… they are the SIAM 400

That time of year again…..

Since meeting Geoff January has becoming the time of year to go skiing.

Geoff always goes out to his apartment for the whole of the month and I am very lucky to be able to join him for a week.Picture 3

This will be my third year and I hope it will be my best yet.

If the snow and sun is good then I ski better and If its less crowded I do even better still.

Less snowboarders to get in my way πŸ™‚

At the moment its looking good as Geoff says the slopes are perfect.

I have been and treated myself to some  sunglasses today and found my ski hat so I am all set, just the packing to do.

Once again the boys are very lucky to becoming out with me and I know we shall have a lot of fun.

A great start to the year…  and this is just the beginning as later on in the year I will be making the biggest journey of my life.

BUT more about that another day πŸ™‚

2000 miles…

If your a regular reader of my blog you will remember that my older son got a job in August 2008 after being un-employed for 9 months.

This job is at the Bircham Newton Construction College a good 12 miles from where we live.

The only way for him to get to work was to cycle ,so that a 25 mile round trip.

Thankfully he was already very fit so the cycling was not a problem for him.

I have worked out he has now cycled at least 2000 miles in all weathers and never once complained.

I know very few 20 year old boys that would show that kind of dedication.image

That 2000 miles does not include any over time either.

NOW I think the time has come to encourage him to take his driving test again which is proving to be a hard task.

Even though I kept my red Clio for him when I got my new car.

It seems that as he is only contracted to work part time he is worried he will not be able to afford to run a car.

After looking into insurance for him I can see why he is worried  BUT he really needs to be driving.

So when we return from our holiday I will book a test for him then he has no choice πŸ™‚

Always with me….

I received some lovely gifts at Christmas from my loved ones.

I am listening to one right now…"The Katie Melua Collection " anglesey abbey

But my favourite gift has to be the 12inch digital photo frame that Geoff gave me.

I have spent hours filling it with all my favourite photos.

Many of the photos have been taken on the lovely walks and holidays we have been on so hold great memories.

I have the frame sat on my computer desk right next to my laptop.

As you would expect there are also many photos of Geoff.

So when he is away travelling he always feels close by, as the photos randomly rotate round.

How Smart Is Your Right Foot ?

Just try this…….It is from an orthopaedic surgeon…..

This will boggle your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your right foot, but you can’t.  It’s pre-programmed in your brain!!
1.   While sitting where you are , at your desk, in front of your computer, lift your right foot  off the floor and make clockwise circles.
2.  Now, while doing this, draw the number ‘6’ in the air with your right hand.  Your foot will change direction!

I told you so!!!!  And there’s nothing you can do about it.  You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done, you are going to try it again, if you’ve not already done so.  Send it to your buddies, to frustrate them also.

Anglesey Abbey Secrets…..

As Geoff flies to his apartment in the french Alps on Tuesday, for the whole of 3166537741_214d65963bJanuary.

Today was our last chance for a good walk together for a few weeks.

I decided I would like to do one of my favourite walks from Cambridge to Anglesey Abbey.

One of the reasons I wanted to go was to see the stunning Himalayan silver Birch trees.

I have often wondered why these trees always seem so sparkling and smooth, compared to other silver birch tre3167370214_633712ba4bes that I have seen.

I now know the answer ………. A lot of water and elbow grease.

As quoted by Richard Todd, head gardener for the Abbey

"its because we wash them. we use a pressure washer at the beginning of November and once more during the winter season. It takes best part of a day but the impact on the garden is huge."

So that is the secret for anyone wanting to try this at home πŸ™‚

A bracing 17 mile walk in the winter cold taking around 5 hours.
