Off I went first thing this morning to get my cooking apples then I was all set to make my jam.

The jars were washed and put into a low oven 

a) to dry them out

b) to have them warm enough for the hot jam so the glass doesn’t break

I prepared the blackberries and the apples got the sugar all ready , then had a panic as my pan did not look big enough

Not to be out off I carried on anyway and found out the hard way that my pan was just a little too small, the phone rang and I left the pan for a moment only to come back and find it pouring over the sides all over my cooker.

nevertheless I managed to make some great Apple and Blackberry jam.

It has set perfect but then you cannot really go wrong if you use the special jam sugar you can buy.It has added pectin to help it set.

Making jam is so easy and it tastes so much better than shop bought ones ……

Had a practice run of baking some scones ready for my home made Jam.

Can tell you they smell delicious and taste even better than they look.

Don’t think they will last till tomorrow for one second….

Once my boys get home I will be lucky if they last the hour.

After doing my walk on Sunday and seeing all the blackberries ,today I had my son up at 10am, to come blackberry picking with me.

He would usually sleep till at least mid -day so was not best pleased but he came with out a moan.

So off we went on a mission to pick 4lb of blackberries for my jam making.

Came home an hour later with red stained,scratched hands and over 5lb of

blackberries.

Enough for my jam and a crumble for the boys as well.

Tomorrow I will go get the cooking apples and sugar then the jam making will begin.

• Fantastic sunny day off to meet up with ramblers for 10 mile walk even have my shorts on 🙂 #
• Just had lunch and onto second part of walk plenty warm enough for shorts #
• Home after my short slow 10 mile walk but it was good to get out #
• Finished my book secret smile by nicci french was very disappointing now to start out of the tunnel by rachel north #
