Greetings from Les Gets – Day 2

Well if yesterday was to break me in gentle, today was to test me !

Woke to another beautiful sunny day and got out earlier than yesterday.

We drove a short distance down to a village called Essert la Pierre, which is just out side Morzine.

Our aim was to walk up to Pointe de nantaux..

The ascent was 1100m in 2.86 miles.

Walking time was 1.5 hours with a resting time of 1.5 hours….

The descent was 1100m

Walking time 2 hours with a resting time of half an hour.

My ruc-sac weight was aprox 8kg, which included everything I am taking to Corsica , apart from my roll mat and a few bits and bobs. I have learnt to pack light , who needs deodorant and shower gel…….

Fantastic views of Mont Blanc.

Saying of the day was “GEOFF … wait for me”, one day I will walk as fast as he can 🙂

During the whole day we only met another 4 walkers , where would that happen in England on such a fantastic sunny day.

What a girl gets after a hard days walk….. A creme Brulee coup

Greetings from Les Gets – Day 1..

We woke late today to brilliant sunshine, so could not wait to get our boots on and get out walking.

The plan was to break me in gentle too some real mountain walking.

We set off to walk up to the top of Mont Chery.

Long mileage was not the aim of the day just a good ascent and descent.

We managed an ascent of 753 m and descent of 753 m, mileage of 7.8 miles total walking time 2 hours 48 min’s.

Snow was still lying on the summit of Mont Chery.

Favorite word of the day from me was…. WOW….  the views were just fantastic .

Training Week-end…..

My bag is packed, well almost

Off to Cambridge straight from work.

Booked on the 18.30 flight from Stansted to Geneva.

Then an hour by car to Les Gets, where we are spending 3 days walking in the hills. Mountains

Hoping my feet fair better this time with new boots and x-socks.

Will take lots of nice photos and hope I don’t come back aching too much, till then take care and see you all soon.

A Change of Plan…

We did go up the coast on this beautiful sunny day, but walked from Brancaster to Stiffkey .

A lovely walk along the coastal path of aprox 16 miles.

Had a fresh Crab from Brancaster staithe, which was delicious.

We walked along the beach in bare feet from Holkham to Wells , something I have not done for many many years.

A really great day , as always…..

Another Beautiful Day…..

A beautiful sunny morning here in Norfolk, so we are off up to the Coast to walk a bit of the Coastal path.

Maybe do my favorite bit from Heacham to Thornham , have a drink in the Lifeboat Inn then walk back, making it around 16 miles.

I get to try my x-socks out too…..

Hope you all have a great day !!!

At Last….

Just been out for my first run since getting my bad blister..

so desperate to try my new x-socks out that I almost wore them to run in.

Glad to say its healed up well and all was ok.

Was just what I needed after doing no exercise over week-end

If I don’t do any exercise I get very restless and cannot sit still for more than 5 minutes.

That’s why although I love reading it takes me months to finish a book,I just can never sit still long enough to read .

Walking Free week-end…..

As we are off to next Les Gets  next week-end we decided to have a resting week-end.

Saturday we went off to Nottingham to Visit Geoff’s son Steve and his partner Ren.

After Geoff had done a few jobs for them and destroyed their heating in the process, we went for a wander round Nottingham.

After a few drinks we went to The Palm Tree Restaurant.

Its down by the Railway station and looks nothing special from the out side but inside its a very authentic Lebanese Restaurant.

It was my first taste of Lebanese food and I would highly recommend it but the high light of the evening had to be the Belly Dancers, how I would love to be able to dance like them, great exercise too.

Sunday we spent the Afternoon at the Riverside club which was another new experience for me.  🙂  but no photos available……
