Once a friend always a friend…

Tonight I finally made contact with some mislaid friends.

I lost touch with them when I had to move away from RAF Marham

As a married couple they were probably the only good friends we had.we went walking together and he went running with my late husband. In fact they did the only ever Edinburgh marathon together in 1999.paddy 005

I thought about them often and wanted desperately to go and see them when my late husband died but the time was never right and it would have been too emotional.

When my boys finally received  some of there fathers belongings mixed in with it all ,was this medal for the Edinburgh marathon.

I found an old e-mail address for them yesterday and mailed but expected nothing in return as the address was so old, then tonight out the blue I received an e-mail back with a phone number.

This time I did not hesitate and rang them straight away.

It was wonderful to talk to them and I have now shed a few tears but not in sorrow this time…….

Things to do…

As well as getting ready to make the Christmas cake… which I am going to make in a tree shaped tin.paddy 003

I am also hoping to find the time to make some marmalade.

Most of you will know how much I enjoyed making my Jam, although I did get into a mess as my pan was not really big enough.

This time I will be better prepared as I have been to The Lakeland shop and got myself a preserving pan.Now I just need some more jars, some muslin then I will be all set.

A day to remember….

Today Caroline Geoff and I went for a stroll round Grafham water.

The walk was a celebration walk.

Its now been a year since we met up on a walk along the Nar valley Way

One person was missing from our walk today and that was Ellee.musrooms 001

We walked by some great woods and found some interesting looking mushrooms but no edible ones. We  also saw a mass of sloes which made us think about making some sloe gin.

While we walked Geoff was collecting data for the open street map.

We are sure he walked twice as far as we did, going back and forth collecting and writing down all the information he needed.

A great day spent with great company…..for me its been a magic year, I had no idea when I met Geoff how much my life was about to change, long may it continue….

Kings college…..

Kings college taken from the new lions yard car park, taken on my camera and up loaded to blog using Shozu……. took me hours to set it up and now I am not sure if I like the the programme 🙂
