Thoughtful friends.

My friend Anne, has done a little post about the gift I sent her.gifts 004

What she doesn’t tell you is that while she was in Cambridge, she left a gift with Geoff for me.

At the time I was deeply upset because I could not get to Cambridge to see her but getting her gift brightened my day.

She had made me a nice ceramic mug and decorated it with pretty Wellington boots,Inscribed on the bottom is “made for sally by Anne 2007”

Its too nice to use for drinking out, and it may get broken when washing up, so I have it on my computer desk as my pen/pencil holder.

gifts

I also received another unexpected gift too.

Emily (Geoff’s daughter) and her boyfriend Mark gave me a  jar of  honey roasted seeds , which they had got from a herb farm they had visited while on holiday in Cornwall. They tasted delicious but what made them so special was that they were called ” sally’s sensational seeds “

Notice the Jar is now empty…..

Following Geoff (Day 3 )

Tonight Geoff is in Etienimagene de Baigorry after walking 16km, with 1260m of ascent and 1248m of decent, this took him 7 hours.

He rang me tonight and sounded well if a little tired,I think his plan is to walk to Saint-Jean-pied-de-port next where he will take a few hours rest.

Yesterday he had trouble getting food so has used up most of his supplies and tonight he had to buy and cook pasta for his dinner. So I hope he stocks up with food again and looks after himself well.

Day 5 Auberge U Vallone to Hotel Castel di Vergio

Thursday 21/06/07

After a very restless night in the tent ( sleeping in a tent takes a bit of getting used too, especially when 2 are sharing a one man tent )

We woke up later than usual and got a breakfast too.

first thing I noticed today was that I felt a little more relaxed as to me the hardest day was over, I could stop worrying about the Cirque nowimage and just enjoy the rest of the walk.

We finally set off at 7.30 for an easier days walking , we hoped.

The first part of the walk was through the pine trees ,a gentle steady climb before turning steep and ending with a scramble up to the top of the Bocca di Frogiale.

It was very hot today and walking by the golo river gave us plenty of opportunity to go skinny dipping,in all the wonderful rock pools, with fantastic waterfalls too

As it was so hot the last stretch to the hotel seemed to take forever , so it felt good to finally get there.

Free camping here and warm showers too.

Anyone for tea and cake….
