Worth the wait

Today 5 years after moving into my house I finally got my new living room window.

Upstairs windows have all been measured for new double glazing glass too 🙂

Still working on the New heating 🙁

Geoff has been telling me for years, how much better my house would be ,if i let him knock down the dividing wall between the kitchen and dinning room…

Well I also have permission to let him do that job now, lets just hope I don’t have to wait 5 years for him to do it 🙂

The Wedding

The reason we went to Italy was to see Geoff’s nephew get married 🙂

As it was a late afternoon wedding a little spot of sightseeing had been arranged for during the day.

The mini bus picked us all up at 10.30 and our first stop was…

Montefiore Conca, where we could stop in the local square for coffee and people watch or walk up to the castle rock and look down on Conca valley to the Adriatic sea .

We did both 🙂
.

Then it was off to il mio casale a small biological farm producing wine and olive oil as well as freash home made pasta.

We had a most wonderful lunch here in an unique railway carriage.

Then back to the Belvedere Hotel for a swim in the pool or a siesta before the wedding.

The wedding was at the beautiful church San Simeone, in Serra di Sopra, Montefiore Conca  the service was wonderful.

The Italian language is so lovely to listen to, the service felt like listening to a song it just flowed 🙂

The reception was at Signora Merli Todaro’s house and was an out side affair which was lovely in the Italian heat.

An 8 course meal was served which included some very unusual food like basil Ice cream 🙂

It was a most wonderful day enjoyed by all 🙂

Why !

Tell me why on the hottest day of the year so far….

did we go for a 17 mile walk  ??

I can honestly say it totally wrecked  me and I don’t say that very often. 🙁

The walk took us by an open studio in Suffolk which we could not resist having a look around.

The lady made mosaics and had done some of her training in Ravenna

We also went through a brick works that was very interesting.

I just hope its not so hot when Geoff starts his big bike ride on the 7th July

Sight seeing day 2

Our second day of sight seeing took us to a place also taken from ” A thousand places to see before you die “

That place was Ravenna famous for its mosaics.

This time we missed nothing as I bought a guide book called the Treasures of Ravenna 🙂

We visited 5 of the best sites ,but no photos could capture just how magnificent these mosaics are.

Wonder if I will ever get the chance to go back and visit

Florence

Assisi

Venice

and of course the famous leaning Tower of Pisa

Sight seeing Day 1

As we were too far away from the major sight seeing places in Italy.

We decided to visit two places from the book “a thousand places to see before you die”

So our first visit was to Urbino.

Unfortunately as we had no internet we could not research our visit.

So its only now that I realise we missed out on a visit into Ducal Palace and the Botanical Garden

But we did have a fantastic day and I loved all the beautiful buildings 🙂

Italian Ice cream

As Welshcakes Limoncello over at Sicily Scene is always telling us….

Italian Ice cream is to die for and so many flavors to choose from too.

I was very good and stuck to lemon sorbet and yogurt with fruit.

We also tried the Limonchello drink , not really my cup of tea but then I am not into alcohol but I did like the bottle it was served in 🙂

When I inquired if i might have the empty bottle, I was surprised not only to be given the bottle but to also find it full of limonchello too.

A perfect bottle for some of my home made Sloe Gin 🙂

Italy

Home from Italy and feeling the cold 🙁

I never realized just how much I would love the heat and sunshine.

Although we had plenty of Italian rain storms too.

Most of our time was taken up with wedding celebrations but we did manage two great sightseeing days.

We also played in the pool most days too.
