A long drive and a short walk….

Much to Geoff’s amazement we took ourselves off to historic Lavenham on Sunday, to meet up with Ellee and her Ramblers group for a 7 mile walk round the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

"This interesting walk started from the historic village of Lavenham. Once the centre for the local woollen industry, from which it drew great wealth, Lavenham lavenhamis nowadays recognised as the country’s best preserved medieval town. The route progresses through undulating countryside to neighbouring Brent Eleigh, noted for its period cottages, and row of almshouses established in 1730. The walk returns along the aptly named Clay Lane, an ancient highway which used to link with other adjoining villages."

An 80 mile round  trip for a 7 mile walk … but was well worth the effort, we were rewarded with some great company and beautiful sunshine too.

The route can be seen here.

We may return soon as I would love a look around the magnificent looking church.
