Bathroom…. update.

Well my bathroom has finally been finished.

The man came to lay the Lino this morning, its looking clean and fresh .

BUT and there is always a BUT they have to come back and sort my bath taps as they swivel about, shame as it means breaking the bath panel seal to get too taps.

Also I am disappointed that although they replaced some of my tiles they decided for some unknown reason to stop half way round the bathroom.

This would not matter if they had replaced them with the same tile but they only use white tiles and mine were originally green and twice the size of the white ones.

I have sent an e-mail to Longhurst Homes to see if they will come and finish the job off properly .

I also e-mailed them about my fences because as a single mum it is causing me worry and concern over the security implications.

C.R.U.F.C.

On Saturday I was lucky enough to go to the last match of the season. Even luckier because while Geoff and Philip sat downstairs with the commoners for lunch, I was upstairs with the elite.Which included Lord Archer.

Lunch was…

Smoked Mackerel with pickled cucumber & horseradish Creme Fraiche.

Pan-fried chicken supreme with an Aramagnac & green peppercorn sauce, served with new potatoes and fresh vegetables

.Cheese board, fruit, coffee and mints.

The weather was fantastic, maybe alittle hot for playing rugby but they played a fantastic game and romped home with a score of Cambridge 107 v Harrogate 5. The company was great, as always and many thanks to Philip for another great day.

Trekking Poles….

It has been suggested that I get some Trekking poles for when I do the GR20.

I tried some out many years ago but only for a short time as I just did not like them.

Its a mental thing with me as I like to have my hands free to keep my balance when needed.

I tried clip in shoes on my mountain bike for along time but I never got on with them either, I fell off my bike so many times , a good laugh for people with me but very sore for me.

So now I am wondering should I get some poles, maybe I would like just one but would two be better ??

A Family Outing….

Most families go out to the cinema or out for dinner, but not us.

I decided to go out for a jog and was joined by both my boys.

Now there is no way I can keep up with either of them these days.

My eldest son has been at college for 2 years doing the uniformed services course… so has a very high level of fitness.

The younger son does GCSE PE at school, so his fitness level is also good, and its about to get better as next week he starts his work experience at the college gym.

We must have looked a comical sight those two playing cat and mouse and me trailing way behind.

My legs felt very heavy from my week-end of walking…. that’s my excuse anyway 🙂

A waiting game….

My Dad is a keen gardener and has a beautiful Flagpole Cherry Tree in his garden.

Also known as a Prunus Amanogowa

It’s been there for about 10 years and is beautiful at this time of year.

Perfect for small gardens as they grow up but not out.

In August last year I got one for my garden too….. trouble is I want mine to look like my dads now.

Still waiting for Longhurst Homes to come and mend my garden fences too, think a few more phone calls are needed.

Hot property…

Would you buy a house on E-bay ?????

Geoff’s son is trying to sell their house in Peterborough and they have decided to try their luck on E-bay.

I have been to this house and its very nice with a lovely secluded garden, which is easy maintenance too.

Will be interesting to see what happens .

Back to Reality…..

After my 3 fantastic days in Les Gets, it was up and out on the 7am train from Cambridge.

Thanks to my friend Andrew for picking me up at the train station and getting me to work on time…also for looking after my car and best of all WASHING it too.

I finally got home to find my house in a tip, my alcoholic ex husband had drank all my alcohol which was bad enough but he had also had my special Valentines wine I was hysterical because I could not even find the empty bottle.

This is just what I wanted to do to him if I could of got hold of him  🙂

Any way all this happened a few hours ago my tears have dried and I have moved on……

Photos are up on flickr from Les Gets week-end, some fantastic photos too.

I have all my blog reading to catch up with too  🙂 so be expecting a visit from me soon.

Nearly forgot to add ouch ouch ouch my Thighs ache like mad….lol

Greetings from Les Gets – Day 3

Woke nice and early for today’s walk as we wanted to fit in a good walk before catching our flight home.

I had aching legs from yesterdays walk but that was not going to put me off.

We drove down to Samoens, where we followed the GR5 as far as Maison Neuve. This gave me the chance to try out some ladders and also find the white and red route markings. The route markings will be the same on the Gr20.

We then picked up the Gr96 and followed that all the way back to Samoens.

Once again the views were just fantastic……

Total ascent was 1264m , Descent 1264m

distance was 10 miles.

Total time out was 5 hours…. walking time 3hr 32 min’s, resting time 1hr 27 min’s.
